I also highly recommend moderator Derrick's hosting service, ResellerEdge.
See -http://www.reselleredge.com/
OUTSTANDING customer service!
I've been through several different hosting services over the past 10 years and been on the helpline for waaaay too many hours with various problems.
ResellerEdge has been the best with no connection problems to date and they have helped me out with my specific needs. Also, since Derrick has a background in Internet marketing, he has been more keen to behind the scenes stuff than others have.

I use VPS service from www.servint.com. They have also good technical support. For $50/mo you get 10gb/200gb traffic and host unlimited websites and full root access to server.
I also recommend MidPhase.com VPS, StartLogic.com VPS or Webintellects.com
If you have loads of traffic you should use a dedicated server (price range $100-$200 depending on features)

Hi Ray,
I use www.liquidweb.com They have their own data center and many resellers use them.
I Also use www.site5.com for a reseller account. Site 5 is affordable, reliable and you get good support.

I personally couldn't stand the dedicated servers with HostGator. I've been with http://www.ev1servers.com/ for about 6 years now. Have 4 dedicated servers with them at the moment. I tried HostGator just to see how it was, but that lasted all of about 1.5 months before I cancelled my service. In fact, I just cancelled with them this past week. I can't explain the horrible support I got. Well, actually, I can - it was non-existant and like hitting my head against a wall. The moment I told them I wanted to cancel is when I started getting any "support" with them, but mostly it was a what can we do to keep you kinda thing. Too late, in my book. I don't have time to waste on that kind of service - and with spending that kind of money per month.
Anyway, if you go the dedicated server route and a non-maganaged solution, I suggest you take a look at this server management company. Been using them for several years also and their support is awesome!! http://www.ezsm.com/
And sorry this became a HostGator bashing session. I didn't mean it to. There seems to be plenty of happy customers with them. I still have 2 regularly hosted sites with them myself, just not dedicated.
Good luck in your decision!

I just started using a server from www.LunarPages.com and was REALLY impressed with their customer service - which for me is big.
I recently had a server crash (it was hosted on 1and1.com) and the customer service was terrible. I was waiting on the phone on averag for 18 minutes before anyone would help.
Long story short it made me want to switch and LunarPages has been great so far. _________________ Stu McLaren

1and1. com is BAD hosting.
Ewerybody recomends it so I bought it also: do you know how they count visitors on your page: visitor is not a person who comes in and buys but visitor is a guy that comes in and click another page. hahaha
also they are paranoid for privacy so I have trouble seeing what my marketters are doing and to whom they are sending emails.
I had much worse hosting than 1and1 but I am still searching.
I dont know who makes the weird features in hosting packages _________________ www.designerbuddy.com |
