Hi chaps.
I've been dancing on the spot for the last few days. I have discovered an excellent niche with almost zero competition and a very healthy amount of traffic. What's even better is that it's highly unlikely people could rival me because of the access to privileged information I have.
So I've been thinking about how to package this idea. Basically, it would rely on giving the customer fresh information every month. So to that extent, creating a subscription service is the obvious road to tread. All I would really need to do is send out a newsletter with fresh information to the members each month.
Having done a bit of research, I have heard great things about AMember. Having checked out their site though, I can't help but wonder whether it's a bit too substantial for my needs. I've checked out PayDotCom's site, and they say they do a subscription service, so I was wondering whether anybody had experience with them and, if so, do you think they meet my own needs?
Thank you very much for any feedback! |

I think you are looking at two different beasts. Amember is a membership website script, where PAydotcom is more of a affiliate/payment processing script.

Hi Derrick,
I'm still not sure I can tell the difference.
If I was to run this subscription service, then technically I would be creating a database of members. But I wouldn't really need any special facilities. All I need to do is send out a newsletter to them each month and collect payment.
Is PayDotCom suitable for this? |

If I understand what you're envisioning, it seems you need two distinct features, a way to collect funds and a way to email those who have paid you.
PayDotCom might have those features integrated, I really don't know -- haven't used them.
If you have a way of collecting member information for importing into emailing software, you might consider other payment processors, too. Some that don't require you to have a merchant account are ClickBank, PayPal, and Google Checkout (https://checkout.google.com/sell?promo=sbhp)
A member area like aMember can keep track of who is a member and, I believe, it has a way to email the members right from the software. It does not, by itself, have the ability to collect funds, although it can be integrated with certain payment services. This software has features you don't need if you'll use it only to send email.
There are a lot of options. Maybe too many. If you focus on finding somthing that works rather than holding off until you find the best, you'll probably be in business sooner.
