Well, it's official. My oldest son has the chicken pox and I'm just waiting for the younger one to show signs of it too. Poor guys...I remember how boring and itchy the chicken pox were. Just sitting at home dying to scratch those darned pox off!

This shall be a fun couple of weeks...but thankfully I have no boss to call to say I won't be coming to work. Smile

I remember a bunch of my friends and I all got them at the same time.

Although the one kid got really sick.

Yeah, I hope if they both get sick, it's not too far apart. It's going to be a long haul. Malcolm has already told me, "The chicken pox are taking too long to go away," and it's just day 1!

I gave the chicken pox to a bunch of people when I was sick, including my grade 6 teacher...who unfortunately ended up in the hospital. Crying or Very sad

But he was okay in the end.

You are definately in for a fun week. I can hear you from here, "Don't scratch it!." Laughing

I actually had the pox twice. The second time I was 18 and it was in the middle of the Summer. I sat outside sunbathing all day and when they finally went away I had a nice tan with white little "freckles" all over me! Embarassed

Yeah, it shall be fun. The poor guy has like 3 in his mouth, 4 right on the corners of his eyes and even more in his ears. Those are the worst. Sad

Actually, he's going to his Dad's house tomorrow for a few days. Hopefully, most of the itchiness will be done with by the time he gets back. I'll miss the little guy, but he does love spending time with his Dad. Wink

My sisters came down with the chicken pox shortly before my wedding (to the first wife). The photographer had some touch-up job to do on the photos.

Funny enough I seem to be immune to them. I've been exposed to them lots of times but never produced any spots.

Alice, if I'm not too late, add a little water to baking soda and use that as a cream. It takes away the itching! It worked wonders for me.

Thanks for the tip. You know what...he wasn't itchy. He's only 3, so I wonder if it's partly psychological. If he didn't expect to be itchy, he wasn't itchy. We got through it fine.

Just waiting for the youngest to sprout spots. No sign yet.

I got them when I was 28. Man, that really sucked, too. It was when my oldest got them. Then my youngest. We had them together.

Okay...we have case #2 here. Nathan's all poxy now too, but still playing hard and having a great time.

Has anyone given their children the vaccinations against chicken pox? My sister's daughter had the vaccination, but I heard there could be some complications with the vaccination (as there can be with having chicken pox), so I opted not to do it.

So, now we're quarantined...again.

Hi Alice,

Better to get it over with for both of them now. I've heard that once the spots begin to appear the patient is no longer infectious to others so there'e probably no point in going into quarantine at this point.

I presume that you know that it's too late for the vaccinations now Smile

When did you have the chicken pox? For me, it was when I was 12. I had actually heard that, yes, you can develop shingles from it later on, with re-exposure...is this true? I shudder to think what will happen when my kids get exposed by their classmates.
