To Clickbank or not to Clickbank?

Folks:

When selling an info product do you recommend using Clickbank OR running your own affiliate program? I'm just about finished with an Ebook and Video series and wanted some input on the best way to market the product.

Hi Earl,

Clickbank only deals with digital downloadable products, so if that's what you're offering then they're a pretty decent choice. Plus they have their built in affiliate base.

But if your product is in hard copy your own scripts that can pass data back and forth with a payment processor like PayPal would be the way to go.

I've also heard a lot of good things about http://profitautomation.com/ as well. It may be something to look into as it automates a lot of the tasks associated with different aspects of your business.

Hi Earl

If you sell via Clickbank to the UK and Europe your buyers will be compelled to pay value added tax (vat) which at 17.50% is a significant on cost.

I suspect this results in quite a lot on lost sales, especially for highticket items.

Usually I contact the seller direct and arrange to pay via PayPal.

The only thing to be weary about offering alternate payment options to ClickBank is that discerning affiliates won't promote your products. Sad

I wouldn't send you traffic through my hoplink, just to have you let the visitor pay by PayPal -- giving me no credit.

Just something to think about.

I have used Clickbank for years in selling ebooks and etc and never had a problem with them. I also use them for my affiliates.

As usual great advice,, I'm looking at publishing the book this week and it comes with a seven part video series (about 2 hrs). Where does one start when deciding a price point for a product?

I know John would probably recommend making the videos as a physical product but I'm not sure if I want to go through the headache and the investment might be more than I can afford right now Embarassed

If you're unsure about pricing try having a look at what your competition is doing and then base your prices on that. I think it could help to start with a low price and then test it vs higher prices to see what works best for you.

If you have a well written ebook and 7-part video on a topic people want to learn about then at least charge $147 minimum.

Heck, I'm working on a detailed printed manual for a niche with huge profit potential and I'll be charging $197 for it. All I'm doing is documenting how I make money doing it and how anyone can do it with a little effort and networking.

Never undervalue your products. Look at what people will get out of it and sell the benefits.

Hi everyone!

I just wanted to ask something about clickbank. I'm also marketing some accounts with clickbank but I haven't got any sale yet. When I study the contents of the sales pages of these sites, I've noticed that they have flyinads which collect the names and emails of my visitors. And I also noticed that they also have other payment processors such as paypal, etc. Can somebody tell me how to handle these problems?

Hey versacrafts,

I don't think the "flyin" boxes are really a problem because that means if they don't buy on their visit, but leave an email...they may buy later. If you're the last affiliate to refer someone to the site, you will get credit for the sale. At least that's how I understand ClickBank to work.

As to those who have PayPal options -- I wouldn't promote them or I would email the site owner and ask if they would consider putting up a special landing page for you, without other payment options. I've had a number of people say yes to this option.

I have been considering whether or not to use clickbank, after weighing all of the positives and negatives I have decided to go with it.

Anyone not sure should make their own list and decide from that. It comes down to nobody can tell you what is best for your business in this situation, it all depends on your product and your target market.
