Finally John, you catch on and see how powerful a forum is for creating return traffic. I know you have your blog and I'm all for that but as forum in my opinion has a much better interface for community building. I especially like the rotating signature feature! And I like how my image is shown next to the thread title! _________________ Gary Huynh

John,
I really like this modification to the "standard" phpBB forums on the net! _________________ Marc Liron

Thanks Gary & Marc!
I really want to evolve this site into something extremely cool.
What can I say, I like cool stuff!
So the first thing I thought of was the benefit to users by letting the system rotate signature files for them -- so they can maximize traffic from their efforts.
The 2nd thing I thought of creating was the mini avatar photos for the Topic view. I had never see another forum with it and thought it would be really cool so you can see who all posted recently (by photo). I think it will become a great feature as there are more and more threads.

This is a really COOL STUFF!
I enjoy watching other people photos. We sometimes forget that behind every post and website are real people with their ideas, problems and life to share with others. _________________ Probably You Won't Find Other Opportunity Like This.

I like the look of this forum, but would be even better if you could upload images more than 6 kb. _________________ Sincerely,

I recently launched a forum site (also phpBB-based) at http://www.HappyMudan.com.
I hacked phpBB to support signing up for a newsletter (it's just another phpBB group, but there's a radio button to sign up as part of the registration page). I also added a "forward this topic to a friend" form to the bottom of topic pages.
My biggest issue now is traffic. Forums need a critical mass of users to be of any value. I've posted in other forums and bought some cheap Google AdWords.
I think the magic number is 100 users to reach the point where enough people post on a regular basis. We still only have about 20 users.
Suggestions on how I can get more are very welcome.
Thanks!

I have two questions about PHPBB.
1. Where can I get the script for this template you're using here? I checked iOptional but the site is in Chinese or something
2. When the Traffic Secrets forum was created, every buyer of the product got an invite with an username and password already created. How did you manage to do this? |

1. You can this and many other "skins" at http://www.phpbbstyles.com/
2. John can answer this, but my guess is that the client database was duplicated and added into the PHPBB db. _________________ Regards,

Forums are a great. This one has grown so fast(big surprise huh:) ). That is usually the downfall of forums no traffic. The pictures is great too, I always wondered what some of the people I have talked to for so long looked like
Phpbb is a great script, with plenty of free modification scripts.
