LOL --- You guys are making this complicated! I have ways to track my links, so I'm all set. I was just trying to find a simple solution for someone who uses a site builder -- I think I'll show her this thread and let her take her pick.
Seriously, thanks for all the suggestions. I appreciate it.

Alice,
Here's my nickel - or Butts Bucks - go to www.deleteddomains.com and look a tthe most recent deleted domains that are 2 or 3 characters, or heck, 4 - go for it! And then buy the little sucker and host it for a few bucks and create redirects all day long. You can't get much shorter than a 2-3 letter domain! Find it as a category in Power Search.
I'm thinking you are interested in shortening the URL which I think is very helpful, and then you rediredt to a huge tracking link - or obvious affiliate link, etc.
If you control it - and own it then you can also CHANGE IT if you ever want to and never need to worry that an old ad, email, blog post etc, is dead!
I made a site for my dog - and use it for many other things - like redirects.

BIG IDEA - Send all your redirects on your site to a folder (name it anything you want like "outbound" etc. - Then go into your robots.txt file and tell the engines NOT to spider it or follow the links - and you will avoid draining page rank!
Hmmmmm - juicy!
