Thanks for everyone who is continuing to help spread the word and who are making donations themselves.
I just made another decision I want you all to be aware of. As you know, the donations sent via paypal are subject to their 2.9% transaction fee (which I think is ridiculous by the way for donations), so what I am going to do is personally donate an additional 2.9% of all paypal donations in additional to my regular contribution.
This way, 100% of ALL donations, not just the 97.1% after paypal fees, will be going to help the Katrina victims.
Thank you all for your support. I challenge you all to break my bank and make me pay thousands of dollars in "transaction fees" donations. If we receive $20,000 in paypal payment by next Friday when I leave for the trip, I will owe an extra $580 in donations to cover the paypal fees.
Yikes!
Oh well, I bet you guys can't make enough referrals to get us to the $20,000 mark anyway, right?

I LOVE your idea but what I love even more is you've taken action to make it a reality.
Kudos to you and I hope all goes well with your trip.
So many people are going to truly benefit from your efforts.
Thank you in advance from everyone who needs your help.

Greg,
That's what this is all about
I always like to support GREAT ideas especially when the idea itself continues to support others.
I'm also going to let people on my email list know what you are up to so hopefully we can get you some more donations!!
Good luck. _________________ Stu McLaren

Things are finally getting underway now. It's nice to be able to actually see results of what we are doing. It has taken a bit of time, but we are rolling now. Thanks to the continuing donations, we are able to keep this thing going for a while.
I just posted a few pictures on the website of things we are doing so people can see exactly where the money is going. This is such an amazing (yet exhausting) journey. I thought working 12 hours a day at my business was bad. That's nothing compared to what this project is taking, but it is definately worth it.
Here are the pictures:

Thank You Greg for posting those pictures....wow, I am awed and moved by what you are doing. Thank goodness for special giving people like you, Jeff and your team of helpers and all of those who have contributed in the way they can.
You are making a huge difference to the world and directly to those affected. I am humbled by you.

Hi Michel,
My sister who teached at an elementary school here, has called asking if we can do anything. These poor kids here that are attending school for the first day, have nothing but the clothes on their back. I mean just the clothes on their back. They only have one set of clothes. How sad is that??
I didn't make this post seeking money or contributions, but wanted to relay a real life story on what I am dealing with. How can we stop?
Its so sad here...

Hey Jeff and Greg,
Glad to see ya'll working down around New Orleans. I cooked for 1500 up here in NW Louisiana in one of the shelters. Turned out to be a great success. I'm an attorney, so I'll be going to the shelters again with the local bar to help evacuees fill out FEMA forms and other legal docs necessary for their recovery.
Save some jambalaya for me,
Gene
PS - PM me again if you need any help. |
