This is a strange one, but...
Do you listen to music while you work? And if so, what kind of music/sound effects?
Which do you find the most conducive to high productivity? Classical, rock, jazz, Disney theme tunes (you never know)?
Let me know your thoughts,

Yes, I often do, especially to classical and jazz. (I'm listening to some Mahler right now - great as usual ) _________________ Brand new adwords software

I usually listen to soothing, calming piano music from two of my favorite composers.
1) Cynthia Jordan
You can listen to her music for free here: http://www.cdbaby.com/all/emeraldeagle/from/about She's got incredible music all around and be sure to check out her Christmas stuff, too
2) The Piano Brothers: http://www.pianobrothers.com/cart/shopaff.asp?affid=319 (Yes, it's an affiliate link. Go to PianoBrothers.com if you'd rather.)
Both of the above have some really beautiful stuff perfect for the work environment.
Enjoy! |

Does DJ Dave listem to music while working? Hmmm..............
Actually, when I'm interviewing/recording audio, obviously, I don't. But almost every other time I do. My office is like a big giant iPod - you never know what will be on next. I intentionally put the music on "shuffle", to keep the creative juices flowing - not knowing what the next song will be always keeps you on your toes (try it - you'll see what I mean).
The last 5 songs that came up in the shuffle before this post were:
1. Fool In The Rain - Led Zeppelin
2. I Hear You Knocking - Dave Edmunds
3. White Horse - Laid Back
4. This Could Be Love - Diana Krall
5. Queen Of Hearts - Juice Newton
And it'll never happen again...
Uh-oh, here comes The Click Five....gotta go!

| Depends on what I'm working on, but generally The Pat McGee Band and Vertical Horizon usually get the work cranked out.. |

Working at home I always listen to music.
Really depends on the mood to what i listen to.
However lately ALL Ive been listening to and have on repeat is my favourite...Talvin Singh's HA. (its alittle bit old)
The melodies and mixes are wicked, and the lyrics poetically beautiful. each song so different and unique. it truely is a spiritual work of music.

Great idea for a thread. Here are my current favs for when I'm writing...
1. Barenaked Ladies
2. Allison Krauss
3. Mozart "Requiem"
4. Chopin Nocturnes
5. The Muse
There's plenty of others too... it depends on the mood and what I'm working on. _________________ Ray Edwards, Copywriter

Yeah, I find classical music the best to work to.
Whenever I listen to rock, r n b, hip hop, blues, etc, I normally find I sing out loud really stupidly, and it affects my work!
Apparently, classical music is quite conducive to effective creativity... _________________ Scotty Stevens, young infopreneur

I listen to pumped up songs BEFORE I write copy like:
Gwen Stefani
50 Cent
Gorillaz
Pussycat Dolls
(I even occasionally pop on a show tune and belt it out just to get the juices flowing.)
But music, radio or tv on in the background is plain distracting. I have earplugs when my sons and husband are watching stupid tv. _________________ Lorrie Morgan-Ferrero

Lorrie -
Nice pick with the Gorillaz! "Feel Good" is in my "daily 2-mile walk" folder on the ol' Nano. We should have been talking about music, when I saw you in Phoenix (Joe's) and LA (Armand's)! - DJ Dave _________________ Make money every time you attend a seminar...guaranteed!

We'll have to catch up at the next event then. Yanik's?
By the way, my sons are both taking guitar lessons and play "Feel Good" all the time. Did you know there are only about 3 notes in the whole song? Amazing. _________________ Lorrie Morgan-Ferrero
