|
|
Hello,
I was wondering which is the best way to contact people for JV's?
I'm talking about those who are accustomed to making JV partnerships, is it best to send an email, or would a phone call be better if the phone number is available?
What then do you do if you don't get a response via email? Do you assume that the person you sent the email to isn't interested, or do you send a follow up in the event your email was overlooked, or possibly snagged by a filter?
I had a situation last summer where I had contacted a few high profile names in my market after numerous favorable exchanges in weeks past but then my JV proposals didn't get a reply. I had assumed the emails were getting caught by filters, but when I finally got replies, these people (all of them) stated that they did get my emails but got busy. They emailed me because they WANTED to JV with me, but then after several attempts to follow up I never got replies.
I used to get requests from these people to review their new products, but since the last attempts to JV with them I haven't heard from them. I don't like to make assumptions, but I'm not sure how to proceed. I don't want to be bothersome, nor do I want to appear as if I am desperate or begging.
Needless to say I got frustrated and gave up, but am looking to start seeking JV's again.
Should I just move on and let them contact me again when they're ready, or disregard them altogether?
Thanks . . . Scott _________________ The Powerseller Report

Hi Scott
I share your dilemma. I have contacted some well known Internet marketers about my guide (FREE, quick-read at 16 pages, related to a very hot topic, wide interest, money-earning opportunity through rebranding) recently and found that most of them did not respond even.
I received only 2-3 positive responses, 2-3 frank regrets (I am busy, will do it sometime later type) but the rest just did not respond. I myself did not follow up too many times as I did not feel like pestering them. I am not too well known, so that might explain the lack of interest.
I will be curious to know from the bosses what can I do to get a better response to a JV proposal. BTW, those who did the JV reported a pretty good reponse from their clients and readers. _________________ Arun Agrawal

Hey Scott,
It's a numbers game. The more people you contact, the more people will say "YES!"
E-mail isn't necessarily the best way to go...but it's my preferred method and it works for me.
When you contact your potential JV partner you should have (at the very least) the following:
- Your conversions (if you don't know your numbers yet get them)
- Their cut of the sale (try to make it more than a regular affiliate)
- Successful ads that have been used by your other JV partners (obviously you need that first JV before you have this info)
Here's an example of something that worked: A few months ago I was approached by somebody who wanted me to promote their product. I was immediately receptive to their e-mail. Why? Because they had recently promoted a product of mine. They didn't just come out of the blue and try to leverage my list. So that's another strategy you can try. If you have a decent sized list promote the product of the person who you want to promote your product.
"Should I just move on and let them contact me again when they're ready, or disregard them altogether?"
I would go ahead and contact them.

I think if you have approached some big names with no luck, you might approach names that are not so well known but may be more likely to respond to you.
Build up your name and credibility that way. With each successful JV you may do at that level, you can then use the success of each to build your way up.
You could also focus on just one or two big guys and build a rapport with them, then use their names to move to other big guys.
Plus, remember that the big guys get zillions of e-mails every day. Some of them are poorly written JV requests that they have to sift through to get to the gems. They can pick and choose what they want, when they want, if they want. They could care more or care less. You can't control that part.
Try to find a way to make your e-mail stand out yet still be professional in your approach. Takes some creativity and persistence without looking desperate. Good luck! |
