|
|
I see plenty of fantastic uses of video explanations/tutorials. I've always been a big fan and with previous projects, I've used Camtasia but typically it was to create a tutorial CD (physical) and ship it with the product. Heck, back in the days I got a bartending job this way (Camtasia tutorial walk through of my resume which was actually in Powerpoint form).
BUT... this is a brand new realm for me as I'd like to use this on my webpage. However, I must be missing something.
If you visit http://www.LookingGreatNaked.com, there are 2 Camtasia tutorials (the walkthrough for the Who Do You Know challenge) and the walkthrough for how to order (featured at every 'buy now call to action' link). Especially with the how to order... it's 8 minutes and I don't think it would be worthwhile for me to cover less... yet it requires a full download for the user to view it.
What am I missing? How can I make it a quick and easy stream so that someone even with dial-up has a chance to view such footage.
This will be even more important with the new DearEmployee.com project I'll be putting together. So I'm not too concerned on this simple product sales page but will need this MUCH more in the near future.
Any pointers of what to read, what to learn (to get streaming video tutorials working properly) would be appreciated.[/url] _________________ ”Dear Employee, Your Job Sucks”… New 67-page viral report with 6 income streams. Oops. I uploaded a new letter for a different campaign, overwrote an index file (which I needed to do) but forgot to change the domain forwarding to the needed htm page. Just did this now so the page at LookingGreatNaked.com is not the page I was referring to (though the new one also uses Camtasia video files... so the question still holds).
Cheers,

Rob,
If you want to stream video, have a file format that's available to be seen by 98%+ of all users (pc and mac), something that loads fast, doesn't require a streaming server, minimal file size, high quality image.....
The best choice is to convert your video files to Flash. In case your current software does not create Flash files, here is a resource page with several file converters. Do some basic research and pick the one that works best for your needs.

Hope that helps, Paul |

Thanks for the help.
The files currently are in Flash... but that's where I'm a bit boggled. See, I can pick any of a thousand and one sites (let's use Brad Callen's Keyword Elite promo site) and I'll find Camtasia tutorials. I click them and almost instantly they start playing. Same software (possibly 1 version difference)... but must be different settings. Maybe I should get a bit wiser, hunt down a Camtasia forum and post my question there because really I just want to avoid what I have right now (if you see LookingGreatNaked.com, scroll to the screenshot of the camtasia tutorial, click the image... you'll note it doesn't load immediately). It is, however, in Flash format.
Thanks again though. Your input is well appreciated. _________________ ”Dear Employee, Your Job Sucks”… New 67-page viral report with 6 income streams. Free branding opportunity for all website/ blog/ ezine owners. See page 64. Download at http://www.DearInternetMarketer.com |
