I have been reading up on email campaigns, however I have a tiny question about it that I cannot seem to find no matter what search string I use. The one that I am looking at are those sites which offer a 3 day course in your email, with the first course starting as soon as you sign up.

Suppose I want to send an email sequence, say a 3 day email course. Naturally I will get people signing up at different times. One way to go about it would be to allocate a time to collect email addresses and sending this course out to the mailing list after the time period.

However, I was wondering if I could actually send out email sequences that start as soon as a customer puts in his email address. Thus I would have Customer A (who signed up on Monday) starting his course on Monday and Customer B (who signed up on Tuesday) starting his course on Tuesday, etc.

I hope that the explanation was clear. Is there an automated process to do the above? If there is, is there a relatively affordable option or if possible, open source option?

Thanks in advance!

yea sure of course you can do that. It is called an "Autoresponder" and there are quite a few out there. I personally recommend This One it is free and you can setup an entire series of emails.

The way it works is you pre-write the emails and set them up i the autoresponder as follows:

First email - Hey [[firstname]] thanks for joining my list
and this one goes out on day "0" which is instant as soon as the person signs up.

Second email - [[firstname]] here is your first ecourse training mail
and this one goes out on day "1" which would be the next day.

Setting this kind of thing up makes it easy to have thousands of people in your list all at different places within the sequense.

You will also need to decide on "double opt-in" or "single opt-in" which refers the the process the user must go through to join your list.

Single opt-in = the user give email and name and pushes submit and he is instantly in the list.

Double opt-in = the user enters info and the autoresponder send a confirmation email where the user must confirm before the first emails comes.

There are benifits and drawbacks to both. One lets you create a larger list faster, however less responsive. The other is slower but more responsive.

Anyway, I hope that helps,

Adam

Hello fi5hbone,

First of all, congratulations for planning to start your list. It will prove to be the best thing you've ever done for your business.

Too, I suggest that you add a minimum of 7 messages to your autoresponder series as people need to be exposed to a message or brand at least that many times before it gets drilled into their brains.

Better yet, plug in a year's worth of messages... just keep 'em coming!

Lastly, I've used Aweber's service for years and they've never lost a lead yet. Can't recommend them highly enough.

Best to you!

Rosalind
