|
|
Hello,
I'm in the planning stages of a project wich will require that I create videos. I need a software that can record what's happenning on my computer screen. I also need a good microphone. I'm going to be getting editing software from a friend so that won't be a problem.
I tought I'd start my research by trying to get recommendations from here from anybody who's had any experience in using such software & products.
And if you happen to have any tips, those are welcomed as well
Thanks,

Camtasia is one of the best programs for screen-capture recording and I recommend it.
The best microphone you can afford is the one you should buy, I personally use a Shure KSM27 which is a studio quality microphone along with a M-Audio Duo preamp so I can plug it into the USB port on my computer. The recordings are crystal clear and amazing.
However, if you want to go the cheaper route any mic with noise canceling features will work just fine in most cases, most people don't have high end speakers connected to their computers anyway so the quality of what they hear is limited anyway.
If you find Camtasia doesn't fit into your budget there are some shareware screen-capture recording programs that you can use as well. Here is one that I am aware of but have never used, it's only $25

Hi Jene-Rene,
CamStudio is the top of the line at $299.00.
To get started there is a free one called, CamStudio.
The company is gone but the software is still around.
I found it at this site:

Hey Mark, good find! I think you meant that Camtasia is top of the line at $299.00.
Anyway, free is always good! _________________ Miles Baker

I hate to ask, but because the company is no longer around, how can you register the free version of CamStudio? I love the tool, I love that it's free, but it's now expired and there's no way to get the reg code because the company's out of business! Can someone help out with this or is there another free tool out there somewhere?
Thanks!

Camtasia really lets you make some good high quality professional videos and screen captures. I found that using the cheaper or free progies only gets you so much and only gives you so many options for production.
The production feature alone saves me 80% more diskspace than media encoder. It downloads faster and you can manipulate the output screen size unlike the cheap stuff.
After I saw what the camtasia package could do I would never go cheap again.
Just my two cents.
Take care and good luck _________________ DAVID C SKUL

I admit it! Camtasia rules!! I just tried out the free demo. I guess I'll be buying it soon! Thanks for the recommends. But at least we know of some free ones that will do in a pinch - or if you're penny pinching.

Hey wohoo19m
I've used Camtasia from the start, and absolutely love them!
Why not try their 30 day free trial, first?
As is alluded to above, you WON'T get anywhere near the features on Camtasia on a free program.
Good luck! _________________ Scotty Stevens, young infopreneur
