Hi,
Conversion of traffic to sales is a HUGE topic. It depends on a lot of different factors. What type of site are you running? Adsense? Affiliate based? Your own products? Ecommerce campaign or a direct response type campaign?
Once you've got that answered, there are average conversion rates for all of these. Even then, the answer is so dependent on other factors like -
How good is the copy writing (eCommerce, D.R.)?
Is the Adsense placement optimal (Content Based Sites)?
Are your product descriptions and images decent (ecommerce, D.R.)?
Where is your Order button located(ecommerce, D.R.)?
If you're just starting out I'd say expect 1/100 people to take the desired action you want (1%). Again, thats a very very raw average. I've heard of direct response campaigns earning as high as 60% conversion of traffic to subscribers. Some eCommerce stores convert upards to 6-8% and even higher sometimes. It all really depends.
My advice - decide what type of site you want to run, build it out with laser targeted focus, and then its time for conversion questions.
To Your Success,

Most of the time it's alot easier to get them subscribed to your list and then market to them _________________ Google Success |

I guess some people just have the knack for selling.
But I've found it's a numbers game, and you need
to have numbers.
Put the odds in your favor by following Dustin's advice
and really putting effort into getting quality traffic to your
site.
One easy way is to join a free traffic program or write your
own articles.
I'm sure if you've come this far, you can definitely squeeze
out one or two killer articles about what you know!
have fun and good luck,

I say it all depends on your business model.
Once you have figured out your business model
it should all fall into place.
Make sure it is structured in such a way that you
position your business to make sales on the back end
and you won't go wrong. _________________ Warm regards,
